Therefore HOW YOU LOOK is very powerful.You must dress the part. It sounds superficial as Cameron Russell, a Victoria Secret Model says. She should know!
Cameron Russell is also an educated woman, or more specifically an educated white model.
She has dared step out and say what few dare say and what so many of us painfully know. That image is POWERFUL.
She explains exactly what image is. She makes it clear that RACE is part of your image. She goes on to say that it is a privilege to be white.
Most shockingly, she poignantly points out the reverse impact of image, of race, and that is the ugly truth of racism. She explains that of the 140,000 stop and frisks in New York City, 86% were Black and Latino. She says that if you are Black or Latino, "It's not a question of IF I'll get stopped. It's a question of WHEN."
I applaud Cameron Russell for speaking out on the cost of Beauty, Body Image, and RACE.
